About Us
Pappy's Old Tobacco Barn
RiverView Mounds is a certified TN Century Farm.
A Century Farm is one that has been owned & farmed by the same family for at least 100 years. We celebrated our 175th year of ownership by opening our farm to the public.
In the fall of 2008 we had our first annual fall festival where we enjoyed hayrides, pumpkins, farm animals & a 9 acre corn maze!
A terrific time was had by all!
Our children are the seventh generation of Rineharts to live on and farm this beautiful land.
We are so proud to share our history with you.

The Past
Pappy's Old Tractor
It began in 1833 when our great-great-great grandfather, Jacob W. Rinehart came to Tennessee from North Carolina. He purchased 130 acres to raise corn and livestock. Through the years our family has raised soybean, corn, tobacco, wheat, sorghum, hay, cattle, hogs & chickens. Since Jacob purchased the first parcel, the farm has grown to over 300 acres!
Three generations of Rineharts: John Boyd, Steve, Chris & Miles
In May of 2006 brothers, Chris & Steve, inherited the farm from their father, John Boyd. Unsure of exactly which way to proceed, we contemplated various options. It should be mentioned that selling the farm was NEVER an option!
In October of 2006, we (Chris & wife, Scarlett) attended a field trip to
Bottom View Farms with our son's kindergarten class. Once there, we immediately knew we found our calling! Agritourism combined our two favorite things: families and agriculture. Steve loved the idea of sharing our blessing with the community. Since then, we have been working hard to get ourselves ready for your arrival.
The Future
The most exciting aspect of our future on the farm involves the two
Mississippian Era Mounds located on our property. On March 4, 2009 the mounds were placed on the National Historic Registry! It was announced on Friday, March 13, 2009. We are so thrilled to have this amazing opportunity!
Agriculturally, we continue to raise hay but have decided to diversify. We planted 2 acres of Chardonnay grapes in the Spring of 2008 & 2 acres of blueberries in the Spring of 2009. In addition to small fruits, we have just recently built 2 greenhouses where we will soon offer many varieties of fresh cut flowers and potted plants.
We have many plans for the future of the farm and will continue to open seasonally throughout the year hosting various activities.
This upcoming Fall of 2009 watch for the Second Annual Fall Festival that will include an ON FARM pumpkin patch (by popular demand)!
